The Akanksha Foundation wins ‘NGO of the Year’

KINOE’s funding partner in India wins major award.

KINOE's partner in India is the Akanksha Foundation who provide education and support to disadvantaged children. In August 2010, the Akanksha Foundation won the ‘NGO of the Year’ award in the large NGO category, in the India NGO Awards competition.

The India NGO Awards is a unique national competition that celebrates and rewards the best non-governmental organisations by showcasing examples of best practice and successful resource mobilisation. The India NGO Awards programme is a joint venture between The Resource Alliance & The Rockefeller Foundation. The Awards focus on professional management, innovation in local resource mobilisation and the effectiveness of the organisation’s activities in improving the lives of the people they serve. Over 210 organizations applied for the India NGO Awards 2010. All entries received are put through a stringent, three-level selection process and one organisation in each budget category per region is finally shortlisted as a Regional Awardee.
